Yama
A demon of quite obviously fathomable power. The vicious grin rarely leaves his face.
Yama is a three-phase fight in the real Yama arena, instanced per run and fought solo or as a duo. Every attempt gets its own copy of the arena, so nobody can steal your kill or crash your run.
::yama and the Bosses teleport row land in the Chasm of Fire, the shared cave outside. Yama sits on his throne at the east end of it: Challenge him there, or Travel with the Voice of Yama standing in front of him, and the arena opens. Leaving the domain puts you back in the same room.
The fight
Phase one is a straight damage race. The glyphs on the floor are the fight's defence: standing on one costs health and extinguishes it, but it makes you immune to the next fire or shadow special. Phase two adds the meteor and the shadow stomp, both of which telegraph before they land. Phase three drops the glyphs entirely and Yama roots himself at the centre.
At 66.6% and 33.3% he exiles you to a side pocket to face the Judge of Yama. Jump the stepping stones to reach it, then kill it: only melee and magic get through, it protects against whatever style last hit it, and ranged never works at all. Yama takes no damage until the Judge is dead.
Yama is immune to both poison and venom, and his demonbane vulnerability is 1.2x, so an Emberlight's 1.7x bonus becomes 1.84x against him. His Void Flares take a full 2.0x.
Duo
The Voice of Yama's Join pairs you with anybody else standing in the chasm; ::yamaparty opens the same party window for somebody who is not there yet. Either way the party leader's Challenge, Travel or ::yama takes you both in. A duo shares one arena and one Yama, and both of you are paid your own full drop for the kill.
Two challengers change three things in the arena: the void flares arrive in fire and shadow pairs rather than one at a time, a glyph only protects the player who stood on it, and an intermission sends you to opposite pockets with a Judge each. Yama stays untouchable until the last Judge falls, so you cannot skip your partner's crossing, but you are returned to the arena floor the moment your own Judge is down.
Rewards
The Oathplate pieces and the Soulflame horn are the fight's uniques. The horn's "Entice" special is usable solo here, which is a deliberate deviation from Old School, where it needs a second player.
