Gambling
Flower poker in the yard east of the Rest Yard: how a game starts, what the server holds, and what may be staked.
There is one gambling game here, it is played between two players, and the house takes nothing.
The yard
A walled yard east of the Rest Yard with three public planting lanes and one gate. ::fp takes you there. Games are played in the open, which is deliberate - a lane anyone can watch is a lane nobody can argue about afterwards.
Starting a game
Right-click another player in the yard and choose Challenge. That opens the staking screen: pick the game, put up your stake, and confirm. The challenge lands in the other player's chat box as a line they can click, or they can answer with ::gambleaccept <name>.
Both sides confirm, and from that moment until the game is paid or refunded, the server holds both stakes. There is no middleman, nothing to hand over, and nothing to run off with.
Flower poker
Both players are walked into a lane and plant five flowers each as they go. The best hand takes everything. That is the whole game.
What may be staked
Nothing that can be conjured, nothing bought with real money, and nothing untradeable. If the item spawner has it, it is not a stake, because staking a free item is not a gamble.
The rules that hold it up
- Staff tools are switched off inside the yard for everybody, so no rank can conjure a stake or reach into a live game.
- A gambling ban is a punishment of its own, so somebody can be barred from the yard without being barred from the game.
- Ironman accounts cannot stake at all - see ranks and modes.
