Blood Tithe

Feeding spare gear to the blood fountain for vitae, the world boosts it overflows into, the ladder, and the blood soaks.

The blood fountain in the home courtyard takes gear as well as blood money. Offer it an item off its list and the item is destroyed for good: you earn vitae, and the fountain's meter rises by the same amount for everybody.

What the fountain takes

Not everything. The list is hand-picked boss gear - godsword pieces, Bandos and Armadyl armour, wilderness weapons, rings, the things that pile up in a bank after a long grind. A piece is priced by how long its cheapest source takes to drop it, never by what it sells for: one hour of expected chase time is worth 10 vitae. So a rare drop is worth a lot of vitae and a common one very little, whatever the market says.

Open the fountain's Tithe tab to see which of your items it will take and what each one pays. Nothing counts unless you are standing at the fountain, and every tithe asks you to confirm first - the item does not come back. Noted items count, so a stack of spares can go in one go with Tithe-All.

The overflow

The meter is shared by the whole world. Every 1,000 vitae it overflows into a two-hour world boost for everyone online - a drop rate, experience or vote point boost - and the player who put in the most that cycle is named in the announcement. A boost never stacks past eight hours remaining; if every boost is already that full, the meter holds what it has and overflows as soon as there is room.

::tithe prints your vitae, your rank, the meter and how far off the next overflow is.

The ladder

Every vitae you earn also counts towards your lifetime total, which never goes down - spending vitae does not cost you a rank.

Lifetime vitaeRank
100Tithed
500Devout
2,500Bloodsworn, and the Phoenix pet
10,000Hallowed

Your rank is shown on the Tithe tab and on the website's Tithes board. Bloodsworn and Hallowed are announced to the world. The Phoenix is the ladder's own pet: it has no other source, and each account gets it once.

Spending vitae

The Vitae counter button on the Tithe tab opens the fountain's counter. It sells the booster scrolls for vitae, and buys nothing back.

Blood soaks

The fountain's Soak tab stains a piece of gear in blood. A soaked piece gains 2 to every bonus it already has (magic damage and prayer are left alone), keeps everything else about the plain item, and cannot be traded.

Nine families can be soaked: the abyssal whip, the abyssal tentacle, the helm of Neitiznot, black d'hide (body, chaps and vambraces), dragon boots, barrows gloves, the dragon defender, the granite maul and the rune crossbow. Each family is unlocked once with vitae, and after that each dip costs blood money. Use the item on the fountain, or pick it on the Soak tab.

The blood wears off. A soaked piece lasts 10,000 swings for a weapon, or 10,000 hits taken for armour, and then dries back into the plain item - dip it again to refill it. It also dries if you lose it on a death you did not protect it on: whoever takes it gets the plain item. If a player killed you, they also get half of what the dip cost, in blood money.
