a new client, and the end of spawning

Two players on the marble floor of the home plaza, one followed by a large red and black spider

Two big changes land together. The game now runs on stock RuneLite rather than our own fork, so every plugin in the sidebar is the real one, and the item spawner is gone along with everything it handed out for free. Every rune, potion, arrow and piece of floor gear is now bought, dropped or made, and the first restart after this update settles every account that held spawned items.

Highlights

  • A new client - Sanguine runs on stock RuneLite now. The GPU renderer, ground markers, tile indicators, the XP and loot trackers, boss timers, NPC indicators, the clue solver and the rest are RuneLite's own rather than our copies of them, and the launcher fetches the client and the game files for you.
  • Nothing is free any more - the item spawner, its orb, its panel and ::spawn are all gone. The 376 items it used to give away are now sold at a counter, dropped by something, or made: Supplies for everything a trip burns, new Melee, Ranged and Magic counters for floor gear sold as sets, and the Armoury for the tier above that.
  • Every kill pays coins - ordinary monsters and mid bosses now pay coins scaled to their level, with a bonus while you are on a Slayer task, so PvM funds the trip that killed it. Blood money keeps its old job.
  • Spawned items are cleared, and you are paid for the change - on the first restart of this update every account loses what it was given free, gets a starter kit and has its coins topped up to 250,000. New accounts get coins for a full starter loadout and buy it from the loadout panel.
  • Standard drop tables rebuilt toward OSRS - 180 monster tables came off the wiki, herbs, seeds and gems roll from shared tables, and the tertiary rates are fixed: a Hill Giant's giant key is 1/128 rather than 1/1,668.

New content

  • The supply counters - Supplies prices food, potions, runes and ammunition, all noted. Melee (43), Ranged (44) and Magic (45) sell the floor armour as sets and as loose pieces. The Armoury keeps the higher tier, and 22 chase rows with a real drop source came off its shelf.
  • Herblore's top half - anti-venom, super antifire, extended antifires, stamina potions, sanfew serums, bastion and battlemage, and the pestle grinds are all in, 1:1 with OSRS. Divine potions are too: they refuse under 10 hitpoints, take 10 damage and hold the boost for five minutes.
  • Pest Control runs properly - the lander and island screens are OSRS's own, with the departure timer, players ready, Pest Points, the knight's health and every portal's. A 30-second countdown launches the lander, solo games are allowed, the knight has 200 hitpoints, and surviving twenty minutes is a win.
  • Mining - the whole ore ladder from Clay at level 1 to Amethyst at 92, against the rocks this map actually has, plus six Mining rows on the teleport screen.
  • Treasure trails - every OSRS clue type is built and the stock Clue Scroll plugin solves all of it: coordinates, cryptic digs, searches, kills and talks, anagrams, ciphers, emote clues with Uri and double agents, maps, music, Falo, Sherlock, puzzle and light boxes, and master hot and cold.
  • Bounty Hunter target panel - OSRS's own target panel in the Wilderness, with your target's name, combat and Wilderness level, distance, a hint arrow to their tile and a Skip target button.
  • Dizana's quiver - a second ammo slot on the cache's own screen, fired from when your worn ammo does not suit the weapon, and it saves ammo the way an Ava's device does.
  • Crystal shards - the Gauntlet is the only source now, one shard on one full clear in four.
  • Vials of blood - the Theatre of Blood chest is the only source, 5 to 20 on every completion.
  • Blood Krystilia's rewards - her book now opens on OSRS's own slayer reward screen beside Nieve's, with all six block slots drawn and her Buy tab on it.
  • Ten more creatures in the Bestiary - abyssal demon, cave kraken, dark beast, dust devil, Elder Chaos Druid, gargoyle, kurask, mithril dragon, nechryael and skeletal wyvern, each with its drop table.
  • Character design - the Make-over mage offers all 73 female and 71 male hairstyles, and eight extra skin tones (black, ash, white, red, gold, moss, ocean and void) are a Legendary donator perk.
  • Prize previews - hover a mystery box, the Blood casket, a weapon trinket or a cracker and a panel names it and shows what it can pay.
  • Deep blood grove - a new teleport under Skilling, Gathering, level 47 Wilderness.

Combat and balance

  • Chambers of Xeric is harder - clears were coming in under eight minutes, so the Great Olm's solo health pool goes from 1,480 to 1,800 (head 450, claw 225). A five-man raid is unchanged. The room's points pool rises with the health, so loot rises with it.
  • Verzik's third phase - the melee sweep cannot be prayed against again, as in OSRS.
  • Void ranged - void was paying one max hit OSRS does not, which is why void and a rune crossbow looked better than crystal. Crystal armour was working all along; the bowfa's lead is accuracy and its four-tick rapid.
  • Toxic blowpipe - a normal shot fires its dart, plays its sound and spends the charge. It was firing nothing at all.
  • Freezing bosses - Yama can be frozen in phases 1 and 2, and the Nightmare's and Phosani's parasites and husks and the Gemstone Crab are properly immune. Zilyana, Graardor and K'ril stay freezable.
  • Callisto - he keeps walking at you and throws boulders on the way rather than standing off, and he holds his ground at the edge of his leash instead of being pulled out of it.
  • Zilyana - her safespots and corner swings are gone, her bodyguards can no longer wall her off, and she, Graardor and K'ril all judge reach as melee after a special.
  • God Wars rooms - chamber NPCs cannot be attacked from outside their room.
  • Zuk's shield - it slides through the enrage healers instead of turning or sticking on them.
  • Abyssal whip - drops from abyssal demons at about 1/510.
  • Rune drops - back on Slayer monsters at OSRS rates, and grimy torstol drops where OSRS drops it rather than from bosses only.
  • Cave kraken - 1/200 for the trident, 1/1,200 for the tentacle.
  • Abyssal Sire - a pool laid on the current tick no longer ages on the same tick, so the two-tick warning is two ticks again.
  • The rock cake and the locator orb - Eat takes one and stops at 2 hitpoints, Guzzle takes a tenth and one more, and the orb takes a flat ten down to 1. All three draw a number over your head and make a noise, and the orb's animation is a shock rather than a scrying pose.
  • Chambers overload - its 50 hitpoints arrive as ten a tick over five ticks rather than one unreactable hit, and the end-of-dose heal gives back what actually landed.
  • Gem stall - 25% less, to make Slayer the better earner.
  • Combat experience - a one-damage hit pays Hitpoints experience now. A new account kicking a chicken earned none at all.
  • One action at a time - spam-clicking a fishing spot, a mushroom, a salt vein or a cooking range no longer pays several times as fast. Gathering runs at its own pace and a walk or another click stops it.
  • Hardcore lives - Castle Wars, Pest Control, the Duel Arena, the blood arena and tournaments no longer spend one.
  • Level-ups - gaining a level keeps your boost (and your drain) instead of resetting you to base.

Interface and quality of life

  • RuneLite draws the timers now - freezes, stamina, poison and venom, antifire, vengeance, teleblock, smelling salts, Chambers overloads and the Arceuus effects all come off OSRS's own data, so the duplicate box that used to sit beside each one is gone. Freeze spells draw their impact on the tick they land, and the curses and ice spells warn you when they are about to fade.
  • The bank - placeholders draw as placeholders, "Show worn items" is the bank's own view rather than a swap to Equipment Stats, the worn-items page lists all eighteen bonus lines in OSRS's order, every amount box asks "Enter amount:", and talking to a banker opens the conversation live OSRS has.
  • All Settings - eighteen more rows work, including the fourteen keybind rows and their reset, Accept Aid, the level-up pop-up, collection log and loot notifications, max hit splats, the kill-count filter, hit sounds and notification pop-ups. The whole list is baked into the game now, so it is there before the server says a word.
  • Ground items - a pile says whether it is yours, somebody else's or a world spawn, and the Ownership filter (All, Takeable, Drops) works on the labels and the lootbeams.
  • Raid invites and applications - an invite and a join request both arrive as a line you click to accept, and ::raidinvite and ::raidkick take a name with a space in it.
  • Slayer Tasks page - it quotes the prices this server charges rather than OSRS's, so Nieve's 100-point block and a donator's cheaper Blood Slayer cancel read correctly.
  • Loadouts - Load offers to buy whatever you are short of at the coin and blood money counters, with the two totals shown apart, and the item picker lists what the counters sell as well as what you own. Loading is at home only.
  • Sounds - a fight's sounds now reach the people watching it from the tile they happened on, rather than only the two people in it. Teleports, agility shortcuts and equipping are on the right channel.
  • Music - no burst of login tracks any more. The area's own track plays when the world finishes loading, as OSRS does.
  • Vote all - one button in ::vote opens every listing that is off cooldown and reports the count in a single line.
  • One roster - ::players and ::staff show the same list, senior staff first, then the rest of the staff, then everyone else alphabetically, each rank tinted.
  • No acting mid-teleport - eating, equipping, specs and casting are refused while a teleport is winding up. Loadouts still dress you.
  • The Grand Exchange clerk - he shouts a live offer off the book every minute or two, and names the best price on it rather than the one he happened to pick up.
  • Ctrl+S opens the shop - the letter people reach for. The Item Spawner hotkey went with the spawner.
  • Donation store - two cards a row so the shelf fits on screen. The two mystery boxes came off it again the day after they went on; both keep their Donator ticket rows.
  • Tournaments - the arena overlay no longer draws on top of your chat, and the intermission counts down over every head in the arena rather than only the pair about to fight.
  • Referral cap - the ten-referral cap counts the person rather than the account, so the same person cannot take it three times from three accounts.
  • Record board and drop counters - both start at launch instead of carrying the beta's numbers, so the board and the drop feed say what has actually happened on the live server.
  • Ancient book Home teleport - the Home icon on the ancient book casts home like the other three books instead of saying the spell is not available.

Client and performance

  • Retina Macs - the GPU renderer was drawing at twice the size and keeping the bottom-left quarter of it. Fixed on the login screen and in game, fixed and resizable, GPU on and off.
  • The client fetches its own files - the launcher downloads the game client and the game files and checks them, so an old installer still updates cleanly.
  • Our own download mirrors - every file the client needs is served from our own storage with a spare copy behind it, so an update no longer depends on somebody else's host staying up.
  • The login screen - the brazier fire and the login artwork are part of the game rather than options you could switch off, and a setting whose default changes now reaches profiles that already exist.
  • Home - the leftover upstairs room over the colonnade east of the bank is removed, the map icon marker moved, and the portal icon on the minimap marks the home Obelisk.

Fixes

  • Pest Control deleted your inventory - every way off the island, including logging out, wiped everything you were carrying and cancelled paid-for antifire and antipoison. Leaving now restores your stats and cures poison, and nothing else.
  • `::home` could strand you - a spell or jewellery teleport stopped half way through, leaving you unable to move.
  • Everything was worth nothing - unless you had opened the Item Spawner at least once, every price the client knew read as zero: a bank worth 26.9M showed as 1.9M and the price checker refused items.
  • Mining did nothing - clicking any ore rock in the game produced no action, no message and no error.
  • Every female hairstyle came back as the same short one - the Make-over mage offered 73 and the server accepted 10.
  • Bosses left behind in instances - leaving a run on the tick you entered it could strand the boss somewhere nobody was, where it blocked the next raider's boss at the same coordinates. Parallel runs at the same coordinates no longer block each other either.
  • Chambers of Xeric drew the wrong place - the raid was drawn from the stored template, so at the Entrance you stood behind rock walls that are not there. Each room is sent as its own scene now.
  • Verzik's health bar - the bar over her head was measured against the wrong pool, so it never matched the one in Opponent Information.
  • Walking to a rotated object - a non-square object was searched for as if it were turned through a right angle, so the walk to it could fail.
  • The special attack orb - the bar filled at the right speed against the wrong starting point, so a special off a full bar paid back up to fifty ticks later than the orb said. It re-anchors on the tick the bar leaves 100% now.
  • `::drops` held bosses only - ten ordinary creatures are on it, examining one opens its table, and "View drops" in the Teleports window lights up for them.
  • The Skeletal Maledictus - a living one is re-announced every thirty minutes and on login.
  • Dialogue - a line reached your chat history once, ahead of the conversation, rather than once per page.
  • `::viewacc` - community managers can open it, since it writes nothing.
