Wilderness bosses and achievements

Calvar'ion's lightning covering the floor of the Skeletal Tomb, fought at close range in the centre of the room

The Wilderness boss rework lands. Artio, Calvar'ion and Spindel each hold their own cave off a Wilderness entrance, Scorpia is finally alive in the Scorpion Pit, and the two ancient wards have a source for the first time. Alongside that, the Achievements window has been rebuilt around every boss you can travel to, the looting bag works, and Herblore is trainable end to end.

Highlights

  • Three new Wilderness bosses - Artio, Calvar'ion and Spindel live in their real caves off a Wilderness entrance, in singles-plus, and they are the only source of the components that upgrade a revenant weapon.
  • Scorpia - the Scorpion Pit under level 53 Wilderness now has its boss in it. Everything was shipped except the spawn, so she has been dead content since the day her drops were written.
  • Odium and Malediction wards - all six shards dropped and neither ward could be built with them. Collect shards 1, 2 and 3 and combine them.
  • Achievements rebuilt - every boss the teleport window reaches now carries kill-count tasks, up from 24 bosses to 34, and finishing a tier pays a rolled reward bundle.
  • The looting bag works - it had been on shop shelves and roughly 190 boss tables doing nothing. It now swallows Wilderness pickups, banks in one click and drops in full on death.

New content

  • The three variant caves - Artio, Calvar'ion and Spindel drop the Claws of Callisto, the Fangs of Venenatis and the Skull of Vet'ion. Each one combines with the matching base weapon to make the Ursine chainmace, the Webweaver bow or the Accursed sceptre.
  • The Voidwaker - the hilt, blade and gem now drop across the six Wilderness bosses and combining all three is the only route to it. The finished weapon has been pulled from the blood chest and casket.
  • Scorpia's guardians - the whole fight is the two guardians she summons at 99 hitpoints, healing her 8 each every three ticks while they stand near her. Freeze them, kill them, or lure her out of range.
  • Herblore and the Apothecary - a new shop at home sells 14 grimy herbs noted for coins and hands over 13 secondaries free, so Herblore no longer waits on a herb drop. Anglerfish and super combat potions are earnable in the same pass.
  • Blighted spell sacks - the Emblem Trader stocks all six at 2 blood money each, and one sack pays a whole spell's rune cost inside the Wilderness. Barrage, bind, the waves and the surges all cast on an empty inventory.
  • Gnome Stronghold Agility - the level 1 course, which the game did not have. Every rooftop starts at 10 and a fresh account starts at 1, so levels 1 to 9 had nowhere to happen.

Combat and balance

  • The enhanced Wilderness weapons are craft-only - the Webweaver bow, Ursine chainmace and Accursed sceptre no longer drop directly. The old bosses are the only source of the base weapon and the new variants the only source of the upgrade component, so both halves have a job.
  • One drop ladder across all six Wilderness bosses - the multi-way parent is strictly better than its singles-plus variant at every shared item, using OSRS's own per-slot ratios. Killing Callisto is always the better ring hunt than killing Artio.
  • Blood revenants moved deeper - the population now lives entirely above level 30 Wilderness rather than spanning 3 to 55, with the per-rev level bands rescaled onto that window. The revenant weapon rate was re-based to 1/13,500 to keep the same drops per hour.
  • Aviansies and Kree'arra - melee immunity now covers the whole Armadyl roster rather than Kree'arra alone, with halberds and salamanders as the only exceptions. Aviansies also throw their real spears and axes instead of firing an invisible bow, and three spiritual creatures that fight from eight tiles away have stopped playing melee swings.
  • Wrath runes and dragon bolts on the counter - the Armoury sells the wrath rune at 50 coins and all ten enchanted dragon bolt tips at 100, without which the four surge spells could not be cast at all and the Armadyl and Zaryte crossbows had no ammunition.
  • Bloodlust pays on every kill - the vote reward gave its +25% blood money on PvP kills only, so it was worth nothing to anyone not PKing that hour. It now applies to PvM as well, through every faucet that pays blood money.
  • Repair bills capped at 100,000 - Perdu never charges more than that for a piece, and the killer's cut follows it down. Untradeables now always break rather than being destroyed outright above level 20, so a Fire cape is never gone for good.
  • Mysterious emblems tier up on task - finishing a Wilderness Blood Slayer task raises a carried emblem one tier. It can never start a ladder, so killing your Bounty Hunter target is still the faster route.

Interface and quality of life

  • The Achievements window - one tab bar carrying two axes: Combat and Skilling on the left, Overview and Tasks on the right. Switching either one leaves the other where you put it, and a claimable tier is highlighted rather than left for you to find.
  • Rolled reward bundles - a tier no longer pays the same fixed list to everyone. There is a guaranteed core with quantity bands plus bonus rolls, supplies were scaled about five times, and Dark crab, Anti-venom+, Sanfew serum and Super antifire joined the table.
  • Slayer helmets report your task - "Check" in the inventory and "Operate" while worn both print the assignment. On task the helm never leaves your head, so the worn reading is the one that gets used.
  • A Skilling tab in the teleport window - thirteen rows covering the nine Agility courses, the three blood gathering sites and the anglerfish coast. Agility was previously gated behind a walk across most of the map.
  • A Grand Exchange Clerk - he stands in the Edgeville bank and opens the offers window when you talk to him. Before this the only door was a command nothing in the world mentions.
  • Effect timers for stamina, antipoison and antivenom - asked for directly. The bottom-right countdowns now cover the three that were missing, and a super antifire timer survives death and a relog.
  • Vote leaderboards - weekly and monthly top-voter boards, aligned to the calendar and paying real bonds, announced in game and in Discord.
  • Another rejuvenation pool at home - a second pool, so the one by the bank is not the only place to restore.

Client and performance

  • Wilderness lava - lava was a black hole, and then briefly a dull mustard river. An overlay marked self-lit now keeps its own light instead of being shaded by the sun, so lava glows the colour OSRS draws it.
  • Aviansie animations - the aviansie frame group was 40 frames short, so about one frame in five of every aviansie animation did not exist and the client threw out of the middle of the draw twice a second. That was the constant bobbing. The eight Armadyl sequences were re-imported and a missing frame is now skipped rather than fatal.

Fixes

  • Combat tab buttons going out of sync - the tab toggles prayers, attack style and auto-retaliate on its own, so a click the server refused left it asserting the opposite of the truth permanently. Every refusal now re-sends the setting.
  • The Wilderness level HUD in the new caves - stepping off the surface into a cave blanked the overlay and took the Attack right-click option with it, which in a singles-plus cave is the more serious half.
  • Herblore's creation dialogue - making potions was dead in fixed screen mode, and had been since the base import.
  • The tormented demon fire bomb - it played the demon's own body graphic on the ground as a splash and gave no telegraph at all. Rebuilt with the right graphics.
  • Malediction shard 1 not announcing - the six ward shards carried scraped prices spanning 68,000 to 2.8 million for items that all drop at one rate, and the announcement threshold reads the price. All six are now priced the same.

Behind the scenes

  • TopG and Top100Arena pulled from the vote rotation - four listings remain live. Both are flagged off rather than deleted, so either can come back in one line.
  • A headless scene renderer - the repo had no way to look at a rendered scene outside the game, which is how "every tile drawn, no holes" passed while the ground still looked wrong. The lava fix was measured against wiki screenshots with it.
