Yama, Master of Pacts

Yama is the headline: a three-phase solo boss fought in the real imported arena, reachable from the Bosses tab of the teleport panel. Behind him sits a fix to a line of sight bug that had every ranged and magic attacker walking the wrong way, two permanent unlocks worth chasing, and a sweep of the Blood Tournaments so a won fight can no longer cost you your kit.
Highlights
- Yama is in - A three-phase solo boss in his own arena, with glyphs, a meteor strike, the Judge crossing, and the Oathplate set and Soulflame horn on his table.
- Ranged and magic now close in properly - If your first shot has no line of sight, you walk towards the target until it does, rather than out to maximum range.
- Blood slayer helmet (i) - The Blood Slayer capstone doubles the blood money you earn while on task.
- Vengeance item - A permanent, tradeable charge of Vengeance from the tournament shop, usable on any spellbook.
- Tournaments no longer eat your gear - Winning a round and then dying at the spectator rail used to hand your whole kit to the player you had just beaten.
New content
- Yama, Master of Pacts - Yama alternates a chasing melee stance with a stand-off caster stance, works through glyph specials, meteor strikes, shadow stomps and void flares, and roots himself for a faster and harder third phase. Two Judge intermissions exile you to a western pocket you have to cross by jumping stepping stones under fire.
- Yama's drops - Each Oathplate piece is 1 in 248 and the Soulflame horn is 1 in 360, on top of noted supplies and coins. The horn's "Entice" special buffs you and nearby allies rather than dealing damage.
- Yami - Yama's pet, a 1 in 1000 tertiary. Drop the item to put the follower behind you, the same as every other pet.
- Vengeance item - 250 points in the Blood Tournament shop. It is never consumed, works from any spellbook because it is an item click rather than a spell, and shares Vengeance's own cooldown, so it cannot be doubled up with the spell.
- Blood slayer helmet (i) - 3,000 Blood Slayer points plus your imbued helm. It doubles blood money from any kill you are assigned, including revenants, the Maggot King and the Blood maledictus.
- Slayer helmet imbue - The imbue now costs 500 points plus a plain Slayer helmet handed in, so buying the cheap rung first no longer costs you 500 points for nothing. Price checks say when a purchase wants an item as well as points.
- Discord drops and events feeds - Rare loot and pets post to a read-only drops channel; kill-count milestones, Combat Achievement tiers, tournament results and world boss spawns post to an events channel.
Combat and balance
- Line of sight for ranged and magic - The old code asked for a tile at exactly your weapon's maximum range, so an attacker starting somewhere with no clear shot walked away from its target to take one. Ranged and magic now route straight at the target and stop the instant the shot is available, which is what melee has always done.
- Demonbane weapons - Burning claws now carry their 5 per cent accuracy and damage bonus against demons instead of nothing, Arclight and Darklight's Weaken special finally drains the demon it hits, and a target can amplify a demonbane bonus: Yama by 20 per cent, his void flares by double.
- Abyssal tentacle poisons rather than envenoms - It was mapped to venom, which meant every melee tournament bracket envenomed both players. It now poisons from 4, as it should.
- Blood Slayer respects Slayer levels - Krystilia will not hand you Cerberus or the Alchemical Hydra if your Slayer level bars you from them, so you no longer pay an abandon fee to shed a task you could never start.
- New accounts train the other sixteen skills - A fresh account is maxed in the seven combat skills and starts at level 1 in everything else, which finally arms the Cerberus 91 and Alchemical Hydra 95 Slayer gates. Characters that already exist are untouched.
Interface and quality of life
- The "Previous" teleport plate works on boss rows - Starting a raid or an instanced boss from the teleport panel now records it, so the footer plate and the spellbook's Previous teleport option point at where you actually last went.
- Bug reports and suggestions arrive now -
::bug,::feedback,::suggestionand::ideadeliver into a private staff channel on Discord. The old transport was never configured on the live server, so every report sent up to now only ever hit a log file. - Yama on the Bosses tab - The teleport panel's Bosses tab is now 28 rows, with Yama merged in.
Client and performance
- New logo and icon set - The client window, splash screen and launcher all carry the new mark, and the site uses the same artwork.
Fixes
- Ground items above id 32767 - The client compared a pile's id back at 15 bits, so the new Vengeance item could be taken off the ground by the server while the client kept drawing it on the tile forever. Both handlers now use the full 16 bits.
- Scythe attack styles - Equipping a scythe lit the Jab button while you were on Chop, and permanently swapped the two thereafter. The scythe tab numbers its buttons differently from every other weapon in the cache, which is why.
- Tournament deaths after a fight resolved - A round winner waiting at the rail kept the fight's poison, drained prayer and low hitpoints, could die there, and in a dangerous bracket lost their kit to the opponent they had beaten. Winners now get a full restore the moment their fight resolves, in-flight hits are blocked, and a follower pet goes back into your inventory before the loadout swap so it cannot be destroyed.
- NPCs with no Attack option could still be maged - A spell targets by index, so no client Attack option is needed: 30 NPCs were open to it, including service NPCs, sleeping boss forms and the invisible logic NPCs inside Inferno, the Theatre and the Gauntlet. All of them now refuse on every combat path.
Behind the scenes
- Server health monitoring - An open port proves nothing when the game thread is wedged, so the health endpoint now answers on the age of the last completed tick and returns 503 when one is overdue. Boot, shutdown, sustained lag and tick exceptions also relay to a private status channel.
- Website and brand rebuild - The site was rebuilt around a gold accent, carved stone chrome and proper display type, and the front page now shows a live player count.
